Aquaman is a 2018 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is intended to be the sixth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is being directed by James Wan, with a screenplay by Will Beall, from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns, and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, and Nicole Kidman. Aquaman will be the second live action theatrical film featuring the titular character, following his debut in 2017's Justice League. The film tells the story of Arthur Curry, the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, who must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world.



Principal photography began on May 2, 2017 in Australia, with most of the film shot at Village Roadshow Studios in Gold Coast, Queensland, and wrapped on October 21, 2017. The film is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on December 21, 2018.
