Gorgosaurus had a massive skull on an S-shaped neck. Its long tail counterbalanced its forward weight and placed its centre of gravity over its hips. Like all other tyrannosaurids, it had short forelimbs and relatively long hindlimbs.
Gorgosaurus lived on a floodplain on the edge of an inland sea in North America, in an area that was also home to Troodon.
