Marvel Comics (founded originally in 1939 as Timely Publications) is an American comic book and related media company owned by Marvel Publishing, Inc., a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. Marvel counts among as its characters such well-known properties as Captain America, Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the Hulk, Iron Man, Ghost Rider, the Punisher, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Thor and many others.
DC Comics (founded originally in 1934 as National Allied Publications) is one of the largest American comic book and related media companies. A subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment since 1969. Some of thier popular characters premiered on Toon Disney's Jetix. DC Comics produces material featuring a large number of well-known characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League, who are among the more popular and influential characters of the company.
The DC Universe (DCU) is the shared universe where most of the comic stories published by DC Comics take place. The fictional characters Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are well-known superheroes from this universe.
